3 months later.

It's peculiarly strange to say that 3 months ago, I was in Kenya.

In the last 3 months, God has been amazing. He has placed heavy in my heart the desire to serve. Volunteering as a tutor for Heroes' Club, which is a club for refugee children in Aurora from grades 1-5, has been my weekly adventure. I love being able to escape studying and school for the mere 2 hours a week to spend time with the kids. For the past month, I've been tutoring 3 Burmese girls, Paw Doh, Jin May and Yu Yu, who are incredibly adorable and are the 3 girls in the picture in the front of the line waiting for the doors to open. Paw Doh was able to finally understand how word searches work; Jin May is recognizing simple words which is amazing for just learning the alphabet; and Yu Yu always amazes me with her incredible talent of drawing. Soon, I am going to be paired up with a refugee family, which will be very exciting. Many new families are arriving, and last week, we had a record of 31 kids! I've been able to drive more NCC students to Heroes' Club, and with the Uncommon Life Movement on campus, I hope to take even more students!

Classes have been going well. Interestingly, I really enjoy organic chemistry, contrary to the popular rumors :D. I've been trying not to judge myself and worry, even though it's so easy to fall into the mindset of having to do better, but it's just not worth it. But with school, there just hasn't been much time--time to be with my family, time to work in the community, time to hang out with friends, and even time to sleep. Sometimes, I feel drained and feeling like life should be more than studying and in lab all day, but in the end, what gives me peace is that God has a plan for me. Even though I would love to be back in Kenya right now working with World Relief or Kiscodep, God has decided put me in school because He knows it's just not the time.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
